Rainbow Resort is in northwestern Minnesota on the northern boundary of the Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge and just 1/2 hour from Itasca State Park. The resort has large lakeside winterized 3 and 4 bedroom housekeeping cabins which can accommodate large groups of guests. The cabins provide beautiful lake views from large picture windows and from lake-facing decks along the fronts of the cabins. Three of the cabins are wheelchair-accessible.

The lodge, which provides spectacular views of the lake, has food, snacks, and beverages as well as basic supplies. There is a recreation center with a large deck and a meeting area. A sauna and restrooms/changing rooms are located on the lower level of the recreation center. High speed internet Wi-Fi is available in both the lodge and the recreation center. A separate ski waxing center has a heated waxing room with waxing tables and winter rental equipment including ski packages, snowshoes, and ice skates.

Rainbow Resort is a family owned and operated xc skiing destination and offers free ski passes to the public. Rainbow Resort has 23Km of on-site xc skiing trails. The resort guests have ski in, ski out access to the trails. Trails are groomed for both skating and classic skiing and range from very easy to quite challenging with some exhilarating roller coasters. These trails also provide an excellent place to hike, bike, and enjoy nature during the spring, summer and fall seasons.
