Final Grooming Begins for Vasaloppet

Groomers set out early Thursday morning to begin the final grooming of the Vasaloppet race course. Ample snow cover plus an inch or so of fresh snow that currently lies on top of most the course should make for one of the best course conditions at the Vasaloppet.

The forecast for Mora remains very good and calls for a high of 31 on Thursday, 37 on Friday after an overnight low of 12, 33 on Saturday with cloudy skies and a high on Sunday of 31 with sun after a low of 12 on Saturday night.

Registrations continue to come into the race office and at the current pace officials anticipate at least 1,500 skiers will take part in Sunday's race.

"The amount of snow we have this year and the good forecast should make race conditions this year one of the best Nature has given us in many years," Rolf Forslund, race president says.

The race will be live webcast on Sunday on webcast50.com
