Junior Nationals: Pre-Race Prep

Midwest team having fun out here in Truckee in preparation for the racing, which starts on Monday. The team spent Thursday traveling to Sacramento, then east to Truckee, giving the athletes a few days to acclimate to the 7000+' elevation that they'll be racing at for the week. The weekend was spent learning the race courses, testing waxes, and seeing some of the beautiful mountains and scenery in the area. The Auburn ski club, where the races will be held, received over 5 feet of snow on Monday & Tuesday this past week, but outlook for the race week is excellent. Racing begins on Monday with a skate sprint race. The remaining races for the week will be Wednesday-distance skate, Friday-distance classic, and will wrap up Saturday with team relays. The Midwest this year is represented by 48 athletes from Minnesota and Wisconsin.
