Elm Creek Series Results
December 29, 2010Conditions: Temperature: 32F, very light wind, moist with a little bit drizzle once awhile; very firm base on the skating lanes, and one side of the skating lanes in the Valley trails being newly groomed around 5:30pm-6pm; classic tracks being set very well with a couple of soft spots for classic poling in the Northern Light trails, and fast with some glare icy sections -- very nice skiing condition tonight. The race course was set on the full 5K loop including Valley, Thicket and Northern Light trails.
Race distance: 5K, both classic and freestyle, mass start.
Freestyle(F)/Classic(C) Laselo Alberti 13:35 (F) - men's freestyle winner Michael MacMillan 15:33 (F) Odd Osland 15:42 (F)/19:37 (C) – men’s classic winner Annika Ferber 15:59 (F) – women’s freestyle winner Melinda Silbernick 16:29 (F) Gina Elmer 16:32 (F) Tim Hieb 16:40 (F) Don Callander 16:41 (F) Andrea Potyondy-Smith 17:24 (F)/23:17 (C) – women’s classic winner R.J. Ochmaun /24:30 (C)
When Laselo and Odd crossed the finish line, no one would have guessed or noticed that they also just finished their Double Birkie (90K on Birkie trails) about 48 hours ago. Not only that, they were looking for a few other skiers to break the wind for them, but they had no luck, so they won tonight’s freestyle and classic races, respectively. Wait, Odd raced the skate event first, then came to win the classic race – What can I say – Odd, who else can claim the Hall of Ski Machine for the Year of 2010!!!
Welcome back, Andrea. Glad to hear that you have almost recovered from the nasty Bronchitis. Tim, you must have mastered the skills of shaving time every Wed. We want to know how you do that!!! Don, we hope your shoulder gets better and better.
Thanks all for coming out to ski the last EC TT in 2010. Congratulations to all of you, Michael, Annika, Gina, R.J. (first race of the season with a PR!!!)
Happy New Year, and see you in 2011.
Michael MacMillan is tonight's winner for the drawing ($25 gift certificate) -- please come and claim it next week.
