MSHSNSCA Summer Notes

I hope that everyone is having a great summer. Hard to believe that the Nordic Ski season starts in 20 weeks. This year's fall meeting and vendor expo will take place on Saturday October 29th at the Vasaloppet Center in Mora. More details on the Meeting and Expo will follow in late August.

I wanted to give you an update on our 'Hybrid" scoring proposal that was submitted to the MSHSL in early 2010. On Monday June 6th, the Board of Directors met and the proposal failed. That result basically puts us back at square one. As I see it, we really have four choices:

1. Keep everything as is (1 team of 7 and 8 individuals) per Section.
2. 15 individuals per Section scoring at the State Meet (would be similar to Track/Field and Swimming).
3. 4 - 4 - 7 (2 teams of 4 and 7 individuals).
4. 5 - 5 - 5 (2 teams of 5 and 5 individuals), the team size would be 7 at Sections. This was proposed by Chris Torvi (Irondale) at the Spring Meeting.

I am willing to take other suggestions/recommendations from the membership throughout the summer. In early September, a committee will meet and decide which options would be best to bring forward to a vote by the membership. A vote will take place at the Fall Meeting. If you are passionate one way or the other regarding the scoring system, please correspond.
