Elm Creek Series Results
Conditions: Air temp. -4F, little wind and balmy and felt like in the middle of January. Solid and nicely groomed trails, great track sets but with a few "human-made" washouts in the Thicket trails and a few leaves blown into the tracks.
Race course: 1 lap of 5K lit trails (Valley Trail loop, Thicket trails, Northern Light trails). The race course was well groomed, good track sets with a few human-made washouts.
Race distance: 5K, both classic and freestyle, mass start.
Summary: The arctic cold temp did not stop the hard core nordic skiers from racing tonight's ECTT events. The battle between Cory Ellertson and Craig Stolen continued in this second Wed night match. This time, Cory Cory charged on the "Wall" and maintained his lead and did not look back. But, Team Fulton and Boston Scientific ski club were well represented by Craig's effort in the back to back skate race run-up and classic race title. Laszlo compared this race with his -100C race (was I lost in temp translation?) a few years ago. Laszlo, this is a heat wave for you! But it was indeed a perfect night for the classic race, as Jim Smith, Craig and Ryan Wilson would vouch for that. Congratulations to all participants for another hard effort.
