Elm Creek Series Results
Conditions: Air temp. -1F to start but quickly dropped to -8F, no wind. Very nicely groomed trails with very firm track sets with a few leafy sections in the Thicket trails. Overall it was another great racing condition tonight!
Tonight's races were dominated by Craig Stolen, again!, in both the skate race and the classic race. Craig charged from a pack of 4 skiers and then pulled away. Christi Nowak also repeated her performance taking the skate and classic races in the women's field. Though Tim Hieb started 1:30 behind the group, he aimed the skiers carrots and pushed to the end. Everyone ventured out in the cold at the verge of temp moving up to 35F later this week and "agreed" to race in shorts next Wed. Come on out! We only have 4-6 weeks left to race some of the big goal races.
Race course: 1 lap of 5K lit trails (Valley Trail loop, Thicket trails, Northern Light trails). The race course was very well groomed, firm tracksets with a few leafy sections due to the cold wind.
Race distance: 5K, both classic and freestyle, mass start.
