Gustavus Adolphus College Nordic Program Cut

The Gustavus Nordic ski team was cut this evening. Over the course of my athletic career, I have been fortunate to have traveled throughout the world and meet some incredible people. One of the greatest highlights of my athletic career was being part of the Gustavus Nordic ski team. The people I met on that team have became my best friends, stood in my wedding, and pushed me to be a better person.

Please consider emailing respectful emails to the following people to overturn this decision. I would ask you to share stories about the incredible people you have met and known through the Gustavus Nordic ski team and why this decision should be reconsidered. Please continue to share this post.

The Gustavus Adolphus College ski team was cut today in a meeting with all of the skiers. It is not only just another Minnesota college to cut their team but a blow to Midwestern and Collegiate skiing. Since only 3 skiers from each school can qualify for NCAA Championships, eliminating college teams will always keep the Central region at a disadvantage with fewer spots than the East and West. In addition, it will mean less options for high school skiers who want a liberal arts school with a varsity skiing program, pushing more towards non-Minnesota schools. The Gustavus Nordic Skiing program was the definition of a liberal arts education with high team GPAs, members involved in research and clubs and alumni that are in medical professions, masters and PhD programs, teaching, science and business. Also, many former collegiate skiers coach youth, high school and professional skiing here in the Twin Cities.
