State Meet Format Meeting & Fall Coaches Meeting

Hello Everyone:

Today is the first day of fall, or more accurately the autumnal equinox, for those of you who are science teachers. Hopefully everyone is starting to think about the upcoming Nordic ski season. Keeping that in mind I want to encourage everyone to make sure that they have renewed their membership in the State Coaches Association and keep Saturday October 24th open for our Fall Meeting at the Mora Nordic Center. Once again we will be inviting vendors to attend with our official meeting running from 9:30 AM - 1:00 PM with lunch being served.

As a prelude to our fall meeting, I am scheduling a get together of those coaches who have an interest in and ideas about improving the format of our State meet that they would like to share. It will held on Monday October 5th from 6:00 - 8:00 PM either at Finn-Sisu Ski Shop in Lauderdale or at the University of Minnesota. I am currently trying to determine which site provides the best option for those who do not live or work in the Twin Cities area to participate and will get back to all interested parties as to the exact location by next Monday. At this meeting we will be asking people to share ideas they have about how the State meet might be improved with a focus on whether it might be possible to include additional race formats. If we can reach a consensus on a few ideas we will bring them to our Fall meeting for discussion. If you are interested in taking part and have yet to let me know about your interest, please e-mail me at: [email protected] so I have an idea as to who can attend and the format through which you will be participating (on-site or technology-based).

In addition, Section 2 coaches should keep in mind that at our Fall meeting you will be asked to put forward one (or more) of your members as candidates for the president-elect of the coaching association. This person will serve as a VP this year and take over the presidency when my term expires following the 2015-2016 season.
