Minnesota High School Wax Rules

The 2022-23 Nordic Ski Rules and Policies Document has been updated to clarify the wax rules for the 2022-23 season. The language does NOT represent a change from last season and is being sent as a reminder to coaches and administrators.

MN 222.8.1 U.S. Ski & Snowboard, the National governing body of FIS, has banned the use of wax products containing fluorocarbons at all sanctioned cross-country ski events for the 2022-23 season. The use of fluorinated waxes is prohibited in MSHSL contests.

This notice has been sent out to all head Nordic coaches, but as there are some clubs and parents who wax their children’s skis, we want to make certain they have a clear understanding regarding this important rule. This rule applies to classic and freestyle and to competition and practices.
