Great Bear Chase Offers Improved Junior Bear Chase Experience

The 2025 Great Bear Chase has a price increase coming on January 1. The race takes place March 8, 2025, at the Swedetown trails in Calumet, Michigan.

Races include the Midwest's only skiathlons, with skiers completing half the distance on classic skis and half on skate skis. Both 20km and 50km distances are offered, with the 20km filling fast. Other races include 10km, 25km, and 50km distances in classic and freestyle techniques, plus a new 3km adaptive race this year.

This year's Junior Bear Chase for youth skiers is moving to Saturday afternoon, March 8, to better accommodate traveling families. The Junior Bear Chase includes distances of 1km, 2km, and 4km. Thanks to an anonymous donor, there are no registration fees for the 2025 Junior Bear Chase.
