Trail Reports

2023-2024 season
Reports 1 to 3 of 3    Month: Jan

Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, Rock skis ]
Lots of bare spots, especially closer to the start of the trail and areas prone to wind. Gets better as you go deeper into the woods to where the are longer stretches of perfect conditions. No classic track set. I recommended rock skis because of the many areas of exposed dirt and rock close to the parking lot.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Rock skis ]
Staff was finally able to get out and comb out the multi-use trails at Chester Woods Park. The trails south of the creek have not been groomed yet (hopefully tomorrow), and classic track was not set as the snow pack is still pretty thin and the grass is popping through in a lot of the open prairie areas. The Kisrow Trail and the Chester Lake Trail are currently getting groomed for hikers/snowshoes and dog walkers.

Firsthand: Classic Secondhand

No grooming yet. Powder conditions (8 inches), some skier made tracks. Possible to sink through powder and hit rocks on downhills. Some blowing and drifting. Skier made trails off to the side on blown out areas. Grooming on Monday per park staff.
