I was surprised to see the trails were in good condition for this year we have had. I had no trouble getting in 25k between Saturday and Sunday. The skate deck is hard but there was enough loose snow to set an edge on most of the trail I skied. The classic tracks were not very good at all very shallow and icy.

Still very nice conditions for skating at Swedetown. I used good skis, no problem. 90% was really nice. Classic looked doable, but not as nice. Should be good for a couple more days.

We happily found another day of super nice grooming and conditions at Swedetown. We used our rock skis but did not encounter any rocks, so someone might use newer skis, as well. We didn't do the entirety of Papa Bear which had some grass for several yards yesterday, because we just expected that the sunny area there would probably be more snowless today, and there are enough other trails to enjoy, so we just turned around there and enjoyed skiing back on that trail. We saw the two groomer mobiles gussying up the track, which made it really nice skiing! Then on to the Bears and Cedar-Ed's-etc Loops, which were super fun today. A snowbiker there told us he really liked his trail (not needing studded tires). We're heading back home this afternoon, but I'd go again tomorrow if we were in Calumet!

Swedetown had some great skiing this morning a hard white base with a draged combed surface. Some dirt in the pines and some grass showing on the back end of papa bear but no surprises. I started with rock skis but soon changed to a better pair. There were no set tracks, but a few places had tracks skied in. Hats off to the groom crew for extending the season under difficult conditions.

Observation Scheduling [ Trails: Closed, ]
|
Swedetown has suspended grooming and will close the ski trails starting Saturday Feb 24 at noon. Trails will remain closed until at least Wednesday Feb 28. This is to preserve the base through warmer temperatures and extend the season. We will update this report on Feb 28. Please stay off the trails starting Feb 24 at noon. Note that we will not groom Feb 23 or 24 even though the trails are open.

All trails have been dragged and tracked. By the time we finished grooming snow had started again, but conditions are very good. Get out and enjoy.

Couple inches of fresh snow overnight, which packed nicely into beautiful track! We rolled everything out before grooming to widen the trail, then dragged the whole system and set fresh track. Temps in the low 20s today so great conditions for skiing. Enjoy.
