Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Partial, Rock skis ]
Trails have been rolled but not tracked. Barely enough snow to cover, but it looks like skaters have been out. The southern half of the Bambas loop (picture) hasn't been rolled.

Ely really doesn't have much snow, so expectations were low. But the groomer was just coming back from rolling the tiny bit of new snow into the icy base when we arrived. Yes, it was quite thin and there were some bare spots to ski around... but Sommers and Bambas loops were quite skiable (with some caution). Many thanks to the groomers! I was elated to ski on natural snow and the trails were better than I expected by far.

The Bambas loop was thin, with a few spots where gravel hid just under the light fluff. Otherwise, a little light fluff over very hardpack/ice. Not tracked and, I assume, not enough white stuff to groom.

Awesome to have Hidden Valley open and groomed. Skied just the Bambas loop. With the air temps at -5F, the classic tracks were smooth and had pretty good glide. Bits of grass and grassy ground showing through the tracks. Skating looked good. Thanks to the groomer for keeping the classic track away from the shrubbery, at least for the first 1-2 km.
