Trail Detail
Notes
In spite of being located in rugged terrain, the trail is suitable for skiers of moderate ability. Only the 8.6 Km loop has climbs and down hills that demand intermediate skiing ability.Trail Reports

Pretty darn good conditions. Full depth tracks but soft and bumpy in places. A very few thin spots. Ran into about 30 of the Chequamegon NF elk including several with large racks! Glad I stopped to watch as they spooked across the trail ahead. Fun outing on this little classic-only trail.

Packed and tracked the 10 inches of snow at Penokee today. The tracks looked awesome! There are a handful of areas that are still trying to freeze down but enough snow to get over them, just might be a little icy. Enjoy the tracks while you can. Penokee is open to snowshoeing, skiing, and dogs are allowed on the trail. There is also a shelter on the trail to enjoy as well. This trail system is a gem that you should get out and try!
