Trail Detail
Notes
The trail is about 8km long and traverses a bridge and two boardwalks. It traverses wetlands, woodlands, and crosses a stream in flat to gently rolling easy terrain. There is a parking lot for skiers at the north end of the trail on Sundstein Road.Trail Reports

Excellent skate. Skied the entire trail out-and-back. No iciness in the evening, temps were right at or maybe slightly above freezing. Coverage was fantastic, with the only exception being a patchy area near one of the gates a couple miles in (easy to step over). Lots of boot prints for a few miles towards/from the Sunstein trailhead, but it didn't really affect the session much.

Three Eagle Trail is skiable. The base layer is thin and there is some debris from the the pine trees. There is somewhat of a classic track but it fades in and out. The skate lane is very firm and fast. There are some icy spots. Despite the conditions it is great to be skiing!

We used the Tidd Tech to pack 2-3 inches of the fine snow. We waited until the afternoon with the higher wind forecast, but didn't find much drifting. Skate deck seems to be in fine shape but we need another couple of inches to set a track. B skis are recommended until we get more snow. Thank You Jayme for volunteering your time in the trail maintenance effort and look forward to your help in the future!

Began on the Eagle River side shortly after 2PM. Trails had not been groomed and had about 2 inches of soft top from the snow last night. Although it had been windy all morning there was no debris. Was able to classic ski in the tracks from an earlier user. Poles dug into the ground a few times, but no risk to bottoming out on my skis. Passed the groomer on my way back in about 3PM so I got to break in a fresh deck at the end.

Finally some snow! All trail segments are open for skate skiing. The packed base is thin in a few spots, so I recommend rock skis. I attempted to set the classic tracks from the trail's southern end, but there is not enough base. From the southern end, there are a few hundred feet of rough classic tracks, but we need more snow to get the nice trapezoid shape before we set the whole trail. The skate lane is good to go. Overall groom: C+. Enjoy!

Beautiful first day skiing on the Three Eagle this morning! Snow covered trees and perfect temperatures! The trails were not groomed but there was enough base to skate on! Enjoy!

Hard to believe our first grooming run is the on 7th of the New year! The trail packed nicely with the roller and comb. The higher moisture content in the snow should set up nicely tonight for a solid base. Hopefully the winter walkers can stay on our vast available network of snowshoe trails. The trail is skiable but rock skis are advised.
