The groomers did a great job. The tracks are well set. As usual the north side is a bit better with the south a bit icy, but there are fewer boot/dog intrusions than normal. Less wildlife than normal but a flock of overwintering robins, deer chilling by the water and turkeys out for a jog. The skiers were extra friendly but I do wonder if the tree in the last photo is a "beaver danger" warning, a welcome from our buck-toothed neighbor or if I'm unfairly anthropomorphizing the critter.

Fresh groom and tracks set around 11:00 today. Classic skiing. All the crossover trails also groomed. Good condition as long as no one walks on it.

Lots of snow but trails were not groomed! I attempted Pike Island but the trails were poor for good balance and glide! I almost fell at least five times and then finally did, so I turned around and departed. I stopped and asked about the lack of grooming, was told they had no staff to groom the trails as several employees were out sick and they were dealing with more pressing matters (a frozen pipe).

I skied Pike Island before and after the tracks were set, and I'm sad to report that the conditions managed to degrade due to the tracks. There were many bare spots scattered around the island where my skis got caught and I nearly wiped out. If you love Pike Island and the cute deer as much as I do, it's worth it if you have B or rock skis and watch out. Plus, there were lots of hiker footprints, so try and enjoy it while it lasts, or until the next big snowfall.
