Notes

Trails are on the golf course. Some nice hills but most of the course is pretty exposed. There is one back leg that is quite shaded and seems to hold snow long after the rest of the course loses it. Rentals at the chalet.

Firsthand: Classic

No grooming but some social classic trails. Not fast or set but still lovely to be in the outside. Bowl is good- front area deep snow and cold!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Still looking good at Como Park. The entire loop is open on both sides. There is one icy section just below the cafe on the north side, but for less than 100 yards. The classic tracks are well set except for a few places where there is drifting. The skate deck looks exceptionally firm and well groomed.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
There are a few places on the northern section with a little bit of ice to navigate and just a little bit of grass showed up in a place or two. It was nothing a beginner skiing with me couldn't handle. It was nice to have a classic track groomed. There was just one icy patch in the southern loop. The groomer was coming out again as I was leaving.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
The trail was rolled this morning with no grooming or classic track. 98% of the trail is good, but some low areas are still wet. Some minor re-routing was needed (photo in red). Enjoy.

Night
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Partial, Rock skis ]
I stayed on the smaller "lighted" loop on the south side of the tracks. The groomers have done a good job packing down what we have out there but we need more snow and less wind. I didn't see what the trails look like out on the north side of the course, but from the road they look like they have some coverage. There is a bit of a redirect of the trail that pushes a bit more of a side by side loop coming down Hole 7 instead of the wider loop that comes down hole 8 and back on hole 7. The maintenance tracks are frustrating but understandable. They are pretty easy to avoid but I stay on my rocks skis to be safe. Still a good full mile loop is usable but it's low snow and highly used by the youth/hs teams. Many thanks to the staff that have been working really hard to keep things going in difficult conditions.

Observation
[ Trails Open: Partial ]
At Como golf course there is some drain tile work being done and the construction company need access to the construction area. The cross cross country ski trail has been affected and we asking for your patience while they complete this work. The work should be finished this week or next. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
A large part of the Como cross country ski Trail was too thin to groom. Part of the trail was groomed with some reroutes. The front side loop has decent snow and a classic track was added to 2/3 of the loop. The other 1/3 was too thin. Enjoy this nice weather.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Partial, Rock skis ]
Around 11 am today it had not been groomed. Skate skiing was tough. Someone has driven over part of course. I would say worst I've seen yet.

[ Trails Open: Partial, Rock skis ]
Discouragingly, a truck has been driving across the ski trail to work by the pond closest to the parking lot. There appears to have been no attempt to minimize damage to the ski trail, which has now been ruined in more than one place. This is the most skied part of the trail, and includes the lesson area. This is particularly distressing given that all users of the trail are now required to purchase the new Ramsey Cnty/St. Paul ski pass.
