Grooming
Conditions: Fair to good, some thin and icy spots.
Skate lanes were groomed today and trail is in fair to good condition. Skiers can expect to find scattered icy spots along with a few small bare spots. However, the majority of the trail is very skiable and in good condition.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Pretty good coverage. Hard pack with an inch of fluff on top.
Did not skate all the trails, but what I skated was amazingly nice. Never hit any rocks. Tracks looked good for the amount of snow. There are icy patches here and there, but overall well worth the 45 min drive from Duluth.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Ungroomed, icy spots, some weeds.
We skated today late morning into early afternoon and found the trails to be the best skating in the area. With that said, there was fresh snow on top of much ice in portions of the trail making it less dangerous than it would be without the snow. There were weeds sticking through and it was very thin in some areas under the trees as you get further away from the trailhead. I would suggest bringing "b" skis as there is one section with exposed bare ground that has no option except for taking skis off an walking and there are quite a few pokey weeds sticking up for a few k. The worst ice is at the beginning and end of the trail, however, there are icy patches at the bottom of a few hills, random patches all over the trails and some open spots where water has run through. Keep your eyes open wide!

Grooming
Conditions: Fair to good. Some icy spots.
Trail was combed Wednesday and track was set on the entry system. Some portions of the track did not set well due to a thin layer of snow over ice and slush.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Skating - good; classic- tracked only up to Trailhead Junction.
Winter Wonderland! The groomer was out the whole time we skied and groomed for skating only for most of the system. Beautiful skate deck, with some wet/icy sections scattered. Classic track on first section (up to Trail Head) had about 2-3% thin icy track from wet base, but rest was good. I was classic skiing.

Grooming Scheduling
Conditions: Poor. Numerous wet/icy spots.
After several days of above freezing temperatures and rain, the trail is in poor condition with numerous wet spots. Snow and cooler temps are in the forecast for Tuesday and grooming will resume when conditions allow.

Got to After Hours early since temps already mid 20s by 8 AM. It was 28 when I left about 1:00 PM. They had several inches of snow in the Sunday night/Monday morning event. Perfectly groomed, trees beautiful. I skied all trails, including classic only, and it was about perfect. Fast glide, good kick with gold old Swix Blue. Skating great too. The pictures tell the story, including the one of the Brule River, reminding us why we go to these trails even when there is plenty of snow everywhere.

Very good classical tracks and skate deck as well. Appears as if they had groomed this morning or last night. Great 90 minute ski with no human encounters. Take advantage of this gem before warmer weather.
