Trail Detail
Notes
The famous Birkie trail. A great, rolling trail through the woods between Cable and Hayward. There is a short section south at Hwy OO that is lighted. There are snowmaking trails at the Start area.Trail Reports

Gitchee Gumi racers report good skiing on the man made loops despite the warm temps. Klister and Zeros were kicking.

Classic skied for about an hour twenty minutes this afternoon. Beautiful conditions for man made snow. Hill climbs were firm with some give, downhills were well groomed, and the skate deck and tracks were solid. Thank you Birkie guys and gals for giving us all this opportunity to ski before any natural snow has accumulated. I'll be back a couple times a week hopefully!

Trail guys out for a ski this morning after grooming reported good skiing! Enjoy! Note: The trail staff is hosting a grooming clinic today so you may see a groomer out, but skiing will remain open. Thanks for understanding as we try and share best practices with our companion venues here in the Midwest.

With all of us in the Midwest waiting for Mother Nature to bring us snow, what a treat to be able to have trails to ski on at the Birkie Telemark Start. Groomers are doing a great job with machine made snow. Amazing conditions with a solid deck for skating and tracks nicely set for classic striding. Skied in the afternoon with lots of skiers out and then stayed skiing into the evening under some lights and near full moon. Crazy lucky to be able to get some early skiing in.

The Birkie groomers did a fantastic job, whipping together about 1km of skiing in short notice. There are two short loops including a nice hill and the trail is wide enough to accommodate a lot of skiers. With all the snow guns going there will probably be a lot more trails open soon. The little bit of natural snow mixed in quite well and made for some awesome November skiing!

Loops up the first hill and down and around the WC start/finish area. Lots of folks out for Turkey Birkie but not really congested. Fun to see our ski friends.

The Cable area received about 6" of heavy wet lake-effects snow Tuesday morning. I just had to give it a try. I've never skied the Birkie Trail in October! I hauled out the waxless rock skis and hit the trail. I tramped from the start area out to the power-lines and back. Good coverage but wet snow stuck to the fish-scales where the ground was warm and wet. Happy Halloween!
