Best conditions of the season so far - get out there. Skied all 15 miles of trails. Thank you groomers! The hikers seemed to appreciate the nicely groomed trails as well. Ugh.

Green trail was groomed but no trail set. Snow had too much moisture and no glide on skis. Several skiers complaining about snow conditions being slow to impossible. Park looked gorgeous.

Grooming Secondhand
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
All trails were rolled followed by grooming and tracking. Skiers reported good conditions which should only improve as the snow settles in overnight. We appreciate skiers' patience as the rain and warm conditions made it impossible to groom until today.

Excellent swift, firm base with fresh groom with wide skate deck and well set classic tracks. Groomer appeared to be finishing up about 5pm. Only ice is in parking lot so walk carefully. Best all year! Thanks groomers!

All the trails were rolled this morning. Grooming plans: Groomers are out this afternoon putting in classic track and the skate deck. They should be finished late afternoon to early evening.

I almost skipped skiing today because of the rain, but I'm happy I didn't. I skate skied most of the trails on the south side of the river, starting around noon, and they're holding up really quite well. You could use good skis, there's nothing I came across that wasn't well covered. I'd say enjoy while it lasts.

Temps in the mid-30s made the tracks less icy but not soft and skate deck looked good also. Just a little leaf and twig litter in the woods, otherwise great conditions.

Grooming

The skate deck was re-groomed this evening on all trails. Results looked good as long as it does not set-up too hard overnight.

After yesterday's grooming the tracks set up very hard and rather icy. Conditions are fast, skins and fishscale skis kicked well. Waxable skis will probably need at a minimum binder with hard wax or power grip. Not sure if its straight klister conditions but klister with a hard cover wax should work.

The groomers did an excellent job of converting the glazed ice trails from yesterday into fast trails with enough give to get an edge with confidence. Conditions were so good, it made me feel like I was a decent skier. Consider donating to Friends of Willow and Kinnickinnic to fund the volunteer grooming.
