Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
We skated Base Loop, Tornado, (distal) Survivor, XC Express and Silver Strider. All are in excellent shape, with a firm skate deck lightly covered with fresh corduroy providing good edging. Classic tracks looked excellent as well. No forest debris. MWP is in great shape.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
I arrived around 1:30 pm with temperatures around 24 degrees. I like skiing the long out and back loops like Lake Marie, Wolff Tracks, and River Run. According to the grooming board, most trails had been freshly groomed. However, the only one of the three I prefer that was groomed Wolff Tracks so that made my decision easy. There was still a good couple of inches of fresh snow on the trails that had been groomed today which made for slower going. I skate skied Creek Trail out to XC Express and on to Wolff Tracks. On the return, I did a quick look around Mellow Meadow. Overall conditions I would rate as good.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Groomers are back on the trails! They started early this morning and hit up many of the interior trails and one long one: Wolf Tracks! We got a few inches of snow over the last day or so and the conditions are looking great now that the temperatures have dropped a bit.

Observation
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
We were a little too close to the rain/snow line during yesterday's storm and ended up with about an inch of sleety snow. While we could see a bit more throughout the day, the temperatures will be too warm for the groomers to head out onto the trails. Equipment can really damage things if brought out when the snow is so wet. Groomers will try to head out tomorrow morning once the temps drop.

Morning
Firsthand: Both Secondhand
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skate skied several of the inner trails and the route out to Lake Marie (Tornado Alley, Survivor, Yukon, C&D Express). Wonderful skiing on some excellent Pisten Bullied grooming that turned freezing rain of three days ago into a hard flat skate deck that was fast, but with good edge control, as they worked the snow enough to mix in powder with the ice. Monday I classic skied in glazed, deep, hard tracks but got good kick with Start Oslo Purple, (which was reported to kick well today also). The groomers at Winter Park are doing an excellent job (again) this year of regularly grooming this extensive and beautiful trail system. Not much snow for the last 6 days or so, so some pine needles, twigs, a few pine cones, but I don't think anything to harm skis. Overall rating: excellent for grooming; very good for trails (due to minor debris on trails). Snow is falling now!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Both
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Bomb-proof classic tracks but I was able to get good kick with both waxed and waxless skis. Switched to skate skis in the afternoon. The trails are mostly well-covered but there are a just a few dirt patches and lots of debris--twigs, cones, branches--under the pine trees. Really quite a nice day on the trails.

Super glide and fresh corduroy. My Wife and I skied the Wolf tracks and various trails. All of them were excellent. Picturesque and evergreens everywhere. Everyone should ski these trails. We stopped at the Tea House, a must stop, hot cocoa and tea also cookies were available, Nice setup.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The Pisten Bully got a heck of a workout Friday night-there's fresh classic tracks and skate decks on almost all trails including both Wolf Tracks and River Run. Conditions should be great and the skiing should be fun, fast, but with good edge control. It's hero snow conditions out there! Exciting news for Wolf Tracks fans, the Pisten Bully made its way across the wetland for the first time this year.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
All the trails were open but many were not skiable because of the ice. I have skied MWP for many years and conditions today were probably worse than I typically see there. Most trails had been groomed on Thursday but few were groomed on Friday I'm guessing because of the warm temps yesterday. All the trails I skied today were icy, some more so than others. I was still able to ski 15K with decent control. The icy trails were very fast. It was fun and fast to get in the tracks and double pole.
