Observation
[ Trails: Closed, Good skis ]
As of today, Razorback trails are open, but I would personally consider them closed and strongly urge skiers to stay off them. They have not been groomed since last weekend. They are now extremely icy and in very poor condition. It would be dangerous to attempt several of the steeper, faster hills with curves at the bottom. Resumption of grooming will depend on the weather in coming days.

Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skied long rider and mary's frolic which were ungroomed but very skiable with a one inch layer of snow on top of a firm base. Roller coaster and wills crossing were fully groomed and in excellent condition. Overall great skating conditions, very fun. Classic tracks looked good but didn't spend any time in them.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Good news and bad news. The good news is that all trails were groomed on Friday. I groomed and tracked all classic loops which did much to clean up litter. Talking to skiers on the trail after I groomed the word was that tracks were deep set and super good. Justin groomed skate trails Friday night and had them in good shape until disaster struck. The bad news is that a rear axle broke about one mile from finishing the job. He limped in on three tracks but had to drop the Ginzu about 1k out from the ski building. While most everything was fine, that final k has some stretches of track wiped out entirely or in part. Rubber track marks mar the skate side in that stretch, but talking today with a couple skiers it is still tolerable. Still awaiting word on when our John Deere dealer can get the parts and repair the axle. Also bad news, because we cannot groom until repairs are made, we are forced to cancel our opposites day grooming which would have seen all skate loops groomed classic and all classic loops groomed skate for the next two weeks. I'll post when we are back in grooming business.

Trails haven't been groomed since the last light snowfall, but the tracks were in good condition. We got out and skied early before the temp rose above freezing. Hoping the trails withstand the thaw. Skied Doug's Folly. Grooming is excellent as always. We love it that the steep downhills aren't tracked. Took my sister from NH who hasn't skied in almost 30 years. She was in heaven. Absolutely beautiful. Thank you to the groomers!

Classic skied Lions Pride, Hairaiser, and Wild Thing. Full depth, solid track with some debris that didn't impact glide. Still a thin layer of snow on the downhills for good control.

Good condition, great glide in the tracks. Some leaves in the tracks but not too many.

Skate lanes were a little uneven from grooming with footprints from people and dogs, especially near the chalet. A 3/5 rating. Classic was very nice, I'd give it 4/5.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Robert groomed all skate loops yesterday and they looked to be in great shape this morning. I just finished grooming and tracking all classic loops. Almost all of it turned out very good to excellent. For the last 2k in on the shared trail with skate skiers there are a few places where the track is shallow. There was considerable oak leaf and pine needle/cones debris when I went out, but most all of it groomed out.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Touched up all of the skate loops this afternoon, grooming in the fresh and drifted snow from yesterday. Other than a fair amount of tree debris from yesterday's winds, trails are in great shape. Grooming plans: Will will be grooming and setting track on the classic trails in the morning.

Skied Oak Ridge, Hair Raiser and Short Cut this afternoon on the classic side. Tracks were hard and very fast. Unfortunately there is a fair amount of oak leaves and other litter in places. Otherwise it was a good ski with a trail rating of mostly good and some fair. The blower motor for the heater in our groomer went out last week. They don't make the part anymore but we were able to find a dealer in Illinois with one and it should get here in time to install and be ready for grooming this weekend. Groomed with a Buddy heater on the front seat last week. Grooming plan is to regroom Friday night and Saturday morning. Should be able to get things in good shape for the weekend.
