2023-2024 season

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
We classic skied the Forestry center today and our timing was perfect. The classic tracks were just soft enough for gliding. 99% of the tracks are still there and where there is ground showing there is plenty of snow on both sides to get around them. There was a small bit of debris but it had melted into the tracks and was not an issue. The peacefulness of this place is always such a treat!

I skied both the orange and pink trails in a figure 8 pattern for a total of 6.5 miles and had to step out of the tracks in several spots where the sun has burned through the snow and a couple of feces left in the tracks. Most of the damage is in the Nursery Rd and Kattmann Rd sections. Other than that, most of the trail was enjoyable fast crust that was fun to double pole.

A great day for spring skiing! There were a several bare spots in the tracks but we were able to step around them. Snow was soft and getting softer in the sun. We skied the orange loop but the pink loop was tracked for classic skis as well.

Huge thank you to Mark and Chad for their amazing grooming! We were treated to perfect parallel tracks between the scenic tall snowy trees! Tracks were 99% debris free, great glide in the woods and when we hit the sunny spots it slowed a bit. Very beautiful place if you have yet to venture there I highly recommend it!

Excellent conditions for classic skiing. Freshly set tracks. Thank you for grooming after Cloquet received 17+ inches of snow. Enjoy! This afternoon's pristine conditions are subject to change as the mighty pines were dropping snow bombs and a few needles.

Grooming

The orange and pink loops are groomed and a classic track is set. No skate deck here. I think it turned out pretty good but not perfect.

Observation
[ Trails Open: Most, Rock skis ]
Conditions are thin, spotty, partially skiable and not ideal for skiing. Trails under trees still have snow that is firm and well-compacted. Bare ground is peeking through areas fully exposed to sun. Expect to have to get out of your bindings and walk around some areas, especially as the warm temps continue.
