The new snow groomed up well. It felt good to be back out in the Pisten Bully. Skiers were pleased with conditions.

Lovely day at ABR. Most trails were fully open and freshly groomed. Skate decks were soft due to the new snow and slow due to the cold, but they're perfectly groomed and have very rare spots of dirt or grass. I used my good skis and did not regret it. Classic tracks were uniformly excellent, classic was the better choice today.

The new snow last night groomed up well and many of the classics were reset. The snow continued over the day with another 2-3 inches. Grooming plans: Groomers will be back out in the morning.

Another fantastic day at ABR. Skate deck continues to be firm with good glide and edge on all freestyle trails. Peltonen Passout was freshly groomed this morning and was a lot of fun. Incredibly beautiful out there today with a light lake-effect snowfall and idyllic snow covered trees. Thanks again!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Between the snow from the weekend and the daily snow dustings, we have had some pretty good skiing. I would not say mid-winter Ironwood conditions with a 2 ft base but mid-winter for southern skiers with a 4 inch base. We are grooming about 82 km. Groomers have been out daily.

With the recent delayed snowfalls this year we finally got back to ABR and the trails were absolutely beautiful today. Despite the very cold temperatures the skate deck was firm and fast with good edge on all trails. ABR sets the standard in grooming and it really showed today. Thanks for a spectacular day!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
ABR was in overall good condition. Some of the single track trails were a bit thin, especially swamp segments or those under heavy conifer cover. I did a fair amount of hoping in an out of the tracks to avoid dirt and debris on Jack Pine and Tamarack Two Track, but also had to side step at least a few spots on other trails including River, Popple Flats and Hautanen Highlands. Skate deck looked good to excellent with only a few easily avoided thin spots. Very scenic with the new snow and sun peeking out in the late afternoon.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
10-12 inches of snow today! We had a full groom crew out early this morning into the afternoon. Skate lanes were soft, classic tracks were good especially on classic only trails. Recreational skiers were very happy today. The second shift groomer shift is reporting great progress in tonight's grooming. Grooming plans: Fresh classic tracks and corduroy at 9 am Sunday.

They were grooming as we skied from 10 to 3 today. Classic skis were the better choice as the snow depth increased from 6" to a foot by the time we left. Yesterday we used our B skis, but today was a winter wonderland.

Classic skied somewhere around 20 km today late morning into the afternoon. A good hour and a half of skiing. Conditions were pretty good for the amount of snow. Snow was soft, tracks were a mix of skied in and groomed. Some areas of trail are bumpy, but it was great for the snow on hand. No problems on hill climbs or bee lining downhill, both semi firm to soft. All and all a phenomenal ski to remind me why I love this sport and this trail system! Thank you groomers. Hope to come back soon!
