Temp was -4° when I got here this morning at 10 AM. Two groomers were just getting done grooming. Classic skied 36 km with double Highlands loops. Everything I skied was fabulous! Deep tracks. Good glide, I still had turquoise on... kick was great. Hills both up and down were freshly groomed. Just perfect ski. Didn't realize it was cold again until I stopped. Thank you!

Classic skied 40 km today. Conditions are so good you could look in the dictionary under grooming perfection and you would see ABR. Tracks are railroad reliable, with a little dusting of snow, kick is awesome and glide was liquid smooth with turquoise swix. Double-poling was good everywhere. Skate deck was firm with some give for a solid edge. Hill climbs were firm buy soft enough to male it feel great. Downhills were awesome. I just pointed my skis and trusted the grooming. Lovely ski!

Conditions on Saturday were perfect. It was a winter wonderland out there with a firm wide freshly groomed skate deck everywhere we skied. You can't ask for better skiing. Thanks for a great week!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The new dusting of snow groomed up well this morning, I ran the bigger Pisten Bully on the southern loops towards the Highlands, wide track groomed classics to the south including puumala and otter slide. Partner groomed the hemlock, jack pine white pine and the new Historic trail. Crasher touched up old ABR. The trails are skiing well and, thanks to be open for 5 weeks, we have most of the weak trees cut so we are able to groom with out having to cut many trees from the last snow storm.

Skied ABR's newest classic-only trail system—Puumala. What a treat! Imagine narrow single track through remote wilderness, with hills and dales to make it fun, with moderate downhills well planned to avoid crashing on the turns. If you are looking for the quiet, pristine single-track classic experience, this 10K section has it all.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
we received about 8 inches of heavy wet snow this morning, it started about 3 am and ended about 10 am. Four groomers were out during the heavy snowfall keeping up with multiple passes. Yes, it was tricky grooming and time consuming but we got about 82 km groomed and very skiable by 10 am with your best skis. We plan to have one of the Pisten Bullies back out in the early morning with a snowmobile to tidy up the last 20 km. We are over 6 feet of snowfall for the season, and the conditions are mid-winter.
The Kaartunen house is open for the next 10 days, call if you are interested in a few days or the entire 10 days. The lunch box special from the Sulfolk Eatery is back for Saturday.

Wow! Winter wonderland! Four inches of new snow fell overnight, all freshly groomed early this morning. 101 kilometers are open. I skated in the morning, and classic in the afternoon. Wet, heavy snow, but skate deck was firm. Met less than 20 skiers all day. Come on up!

I can't believe I haven't skied the Pumula trails before. ABR's best kept secret! It takes some leg work to get out there but it's worth it. Good coverage, one wet spot on the pine loop but nothing you can't step around. The Beaver Pond trail is closed because it's not frozen around the dam yet.

We had a great ski today on our B skis (aggressive warm stone grind and Toko yellow ironed in). Deck was firm and very fast where freshly groomed. The new Popple Flats is a lot of fun! Great day for sprint drills and V2 on the flats. The River Trail, Popple, Sulu, Cherry were well groomed and really really fun. The sleet/graupel from this morning just converted to snow as of noon today which is looking really good.
