Terrific day on the ABR trails. Skate deck was firm, even, fast and with excellent edge. We skied on our brand new Speedmax and Redline skis with 2 layers of Toko yellow ironed in. The snow and grooming was 5/5 on everything we skied today. Hautanen, Coyote, Ridge Runner are all open and near perfect conditions. Thanks for a great day out there!

Winter wonderland! Skate deck was firm and had excellent control. The new snow made things a little slow but it was lots of fun.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The team of three groomers got 'er done this early morning. New tracks to the south on Puumala and other classics to the south. All the combined trails got skate groomed. Wide track and Crasher headed out on Rudy's shoot to open it up for the season, it is a dog friendly trail that links the dog trails to Memory Lane. We had our first skier on the new 'Historic Trail', it links Deer Trail or Jacks Flats to the Erwin Township Historical Society museum and trails. Grooming plans: We picked up 2-3 inches of snow during the day. We have four groomers including at least one of the Pisten Bully out early in the morning. We are skiing on all 101 km of trails.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Classic skied 30 something km today. Temps were right at the freezing point. Skied River, flats areas, Highlands, Bards, and Blueberry.. all twice. When I get time I'll expand my loops. Conditions were great. Tracks were fast with kick, hill climbs were soft/firm and the skate deck was soft/firm. Highlands was getting some use, the tracks sluffed out in a couple of spots and the down hill were starting to berm. I loved it! It reminded me of those Birkie Hills in the later waves. Overall it was phenomenal. My fastest ski this season in fresh snow. I don't have a day off till Wednesday, but I know where I'm kicking and gliding. Thank you groomers!

Grooming

The new 4 inches groomed up well this early morning. We had five of us out grooming including the larger Pisten Bully. We groomed 97 km, 90 of which you can ski on with your best skis. It is really mid-winter conditions; we are almost 5 feet of snowfall to date.

Classic skied 30 + km today. New snow over the tracks and skate deck. This made the tracks soft, yet still firm enough to kick and pole as hard as a person wanted with the bonus of a little bit of powder. Hill climbs had a solid base and pillowy top the made harringboning hills fun and almost effortless at times. Glide was diminished because of the new snow and kick was a bit sluffy at times. Skied loops on River, flats areas, Highlands, bard's bump, and Blueberry Bluffs. Just got to say you know the grooming is solid beneath when you ski over 30 km in powdery, skied in tracks and your ankles and knees feel awesome hours after. That was a unique beautiful ski, a little more energy burned, but awesome! Thank you groomers.

Approximately 4" of fresh had fallen over the morning grooming by the time I went out at 11-1130. Peace and quiet on the trails. The new trails addition to White Pine is lovely with some large white pines and the remains of the Norrie Park bath house along the way. Some chunky frozen slush under the fresh snow where Tamarack two track turns to Tamarack two way.

Mid-winter conditions for both skate and classic skiing. Deep tracks and firm skate lane, a bit of wind-blown leaves but good skis are a go.

What dreams are made of... Classic skied the same 36 to 38 km as Thursday today. Wax was right. Knocked 30 minutes off my time. Tracks and skate deck are perfect. Fast firm, grippy and tons of glide. Still some dirty snow to step aside, but who cares its so good. Included River Trail, Highlands, Blueberry Bluffs, Bards Bluff, the flats, and some idk the name. Decided a seasons pass is the way to go. Thanks ABR groomers!

Classic does not get any better than this! A real Winter wonderland with all the new snow. The skating deck was firm with good control. It was a little slow due to the new snow and cold temps.
