Great skiing on a nice base at Sugarbush. Picnic Loop was in good shape, with little to no debris. Tracks set on most of the loop but trail narrowed in spots. Initial part of Oberg Loop had been walked over and would benefit from grooming but was still decent skiing.

Skied the Onion River Rd in the evening and it was quite good. The groomer had been over it several times. Good track set.

I skate skied the Summit View trail in the afternoon. It had just been groomed and was actually pretty good. The surface was pretty consistent without evidence of prior tracks just "scratched over."

[ B skis ]
Skied at Onion River Road trailhead. Snow was thawed and refrozen. Skate deck was unskiable and very icy. There is snow, but I wouldn't bother going until it is groomed.

Oberg loop was groomed this weekend and the soft snow better packed. A few uneven spots on the steep climbs (went counterclockwise) but overall had nice glide and it was beautiful in the mist and fog. B skis probably best as the warm temps may thin some areas. Classic tracks looked great. Wet snow conditions but much better than expected!

[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Took my good skis out to Onion River Road and skied part way towards Homestead loop. Onion River trail was surprisingly wonderful today. Absolutely stunning with the trees covered in plenty of snow and mostly packed down to get good glide. Good skis possible, just dodge a few sections of debris from the pines above. The Oberg and Picnic loops have very deep soft snow. Photos don't do justice to the winter wonderland that is Sugarbush right now.

[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
From the Britton Peak trailhead, I skied out to and around the Homestead and Hogback loops. Definitely early season conditions. Grooming was recent but despite the cold it had not set up yet. I was bothered by constant pole plunging on both sides of the track and track collapse when kicking. It made for slow going. There was occasional stubble, and dirt/ice over water berms, therefore the B ski suggestion. Let's hope for more snow and additional grooming!

Started at Onion River Road Trailead, skied the first 2km out to the rest of the trail system using fishscale skis. Not much snow and they have reported they can't groom until the USFS finishes whatever project they have going on further down the road. Hit a couple of sticks and some gravel in places laying down some tracks in between the tire tracks from the USFS trucks.
