Beautiful, if cold, afternoon classical skiing in Tofte today. Pristine, though squeaky, dry snow and a dusting of new snow made for a slog on the way out; our (and then another couple) having skied the tracks, along with the slight increase in temperature, brought longer strides with less effort on the return portion.

It's like January in Tofte. Trails were groomed overnight, the skate deck was nice and firm. They set tracks, which were also ok. But the wind was blowing relentlessly, leading to some drifting across the trail. The whole trail was skiable, we saw several out skating even, but there was significant drifting. The snow was dry and powdery with the wind leading to the perfect combination of no glide and no kick. I skated the last five km on my classic skis and the skate lane was awesome when there wasn't a lot of drifting. It was mid teens when we got out on the trail. Lots of snow left and plenty more skiing to be had and great grooming!

Quite honestly the best spring skiing ever in MN. Rivals out west ski areas with so much snow -- freshly groomed trails and no one here! They will be skiing for a long time yet!

Absolutely gorgeous sunny no-wind day at Sugarbush. Only had time to ski the Hogback Loop from the Britton Peak trailhead around noon... freshly groomed and great conditions. Pretty good hill climbs on Hogback and returning on Bridge Run. Classic tracks also were excellent.

Darren worked his magic with the PB last night, grooming 9" of fresh snow. The cold temps last night and into this morning resulted in surprisingly firm conditions. It doesn't get much better than this. Get out there and enjoy it while you can!

Not that its makes any difference as it is now snowing like crazy, but the Sugarbush Picnic and Homestead loops from Oberg were fantastic today before it started snowing. No icy solid tracks and great skate deck.

What fun on a beautiful sunny day! I did the venerable Picnic Loop for the first time in a number of years. Went counterclockwise from the Oberg parking lot on superbly and freshly groomed trails. A bit soft but didn't slow me down on the exhilarating downhills (of which there are many) and over 1700'elevation gain in 22km or so. Only saw a few skiers, none on the Picnic Loop. Thanks to Greg and the groomers for their diligent work on these great trails!

Amazing ski on Maple, Upland, and Hogback loops today. Even with the warmer temps, conditions were great. Oodles of gratitude to the excellent service provided by the trail groomers!

Skied a long loop from Britton Peak, Picnic. East Oberg Connector, Homestead, Hogback and back. Grooming was pristine, Tracks firm and solid, snow not yet transformed, temps in the high 20's. Blue wax and blue extra did the trick. Some of the best skiing at Sugarbush this season.

I started at the Britton Peak parking lot at 10:30am and skied to the Onion River lot and then on to the Oberg loop, Picnic loop and finished with the Hogback. There is a ton of snow and grooming was great. The skate deck was very solid with about 1/2" of soft cord on top. It was great to hear the sound of my skis vibrating over the cord. There were only 5-6 skaters on the entire system before I did a full loop. People are crazy for not getting out to this gem. Thanks to the grooming crew on a great job!
