Amazing, primo conditions on the Sugarbush trails this morning. Fresh snow groomed last night with low single digit temps set up for perfect conditions. We used wood skis with polar wax which provided a very enjoyable outing. The Sugarbush trails are a gem of the north that are shining with more brilliance in the late winter season.

OMG! Skied Oberg Loop early this morning on pristine trails in perfect condition. Tusen takk (a thousand thanks) to the groomers. Beautiful, quiet woods.

Went out on Oberg loop before the snow arrived. Excellent trail conditions with solid striding tracks. Skate lane was well packed. Light snow started before noon and got heavier during the afternoon. At least 6" by night fall.

Superb grooming, superb trail design, superb scenery, plus there's been enough traffic since the last snow to speed up the tracks, which are clean and deep. This is what it's all about. Picnic plus oberg loops. What a blessing to be out here.

I skied in 1/2" of fresh fine snow which gave decent glide in tracks. My skis stayed on top and good kick with blue wax. The groomer was headed toward Homestead rolling the skate deck. I left Oberg lot and skied up to N on Picnic Loop and back. Tracks are well set as is.

8-10" of new snow from Monday had been recently groomed. I skied the Oberg loop and the skate deck was very soft and slow -- I wish I had classic skied. Gorgeous trails and a great ski through the woods!

Oberg trailhead parking, L, K, J, I, D, C, B, A, T, Tofte. Packed skate deck; slick classic tracks. Rain/refreeze nicely groomed. Fast! Caution on two downhills between J and I as rain cut deep trenches across trail in two locations. Could easily cause hard crash.

From Oberg trailhead, Classic skied the Picnic Loop, half of Hogback, Homestead, and Connector back to Oberg. Skins did not work on the glazed track so I switched to fish scale Crowns and that was much better. Picnic ridge conditions were better than the more heavily used hogback and homestead loops, but generally I had to exit the track for uphills and leave one ski out for many of the downhills as everything was very fast. Coverage is good, tracks and deck very firm and hard. Looking forward to the return of winter tomorrow!

From Britton Peak trailhead, I did an out-and-back to N (Picnic). West Hogback (E/O) and Picnic (O/N) had been regroomed and were excellent, particularly given the challenging weather. Kudos to the outstanding grooming! Trackset was fast and in a few places not quite as well-defined as usual, which added some difficulty for staying in the tracks around some of the curves. The south-facing hills on Picnic seemed a bit faster than the others, but for all of them, there was sufficient give to maintain good control. The lower trailhead to A segment has substantial debris in the tracks (catching on my skin skis), but that was really the only segment that I encountered any difficulty (and it had not been regroomed). The most difficult conditions can be found in the parking area, which is covered in ice and can be fairly slippery, so please exercise caution. The other disappointment: those tracks on Picnic are not wolf tracks, but from a dog which was on the trail (unleashed) with a couple of people who were out skiing.

Skied Wood Duck/Piece of Cake loops along with Hogback and Homestead loops. The corduroy was very firm and the grooves could catch the skis especially on downhills. Classic tracks appeared set on all of these loops. There was a washout/ icy spot at the bottom of a hill on the lake side of the Homestead Loop otherwise everything was clear and well groomed. Across the highway, the Tofte return trail was softer and fast - a really fun ski back into town.
