A nice, firm skate lane made for sweet skiing today. The grooming from last night smoothed the trail and the classic tracks are deep and firm.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Except the crossovers the skate lane on complete trail was groomed. The crossover on the Red beginners trail was groomed. About five percent of the classic track was reset. The rest is in good shape and was left alone. Trail is in good to vary good condition.

Started at Old 32 parking lot and skied to the golf course and back to near Sullivan road. Trails were hard packed - fast and fun. The classic track looked great. Good to be out in the woods!

A great ski at Lakewood today. Full depth classic tracks that are set down to the old base, resulting in some fast tracks. The skate lane is firmed up in the middle yet softer on the edges. Skating is smoothing out after this past week's snowfall, except for a few places where our friend left body imprints in the snow today. We used our best skate skis today.

The classic track was great. The groomers did a very good job. They could always use more snow. It was only my second time out so I did not ski the whole course. Please drop a couple of bucks in the donation tube for grooming gas, it would help.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The 7-8 inches of new, fine, dense snow was groomed today with the piston bully. The entire trail was groomed from the golf course to Hwy F. Double classic tracks were set on the golf course and out to 8.5 K, single classic tracks were set on the rest of the system. The classic tracks are deep and firm, the skate lane has nice cord but as a bit soft today, but it should harden up tonight. The trail is now ready for your good skis! The attached picture shows the trail near the end of the day after many skiers had enjoyed the trail.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
We received about 7 inches of fine, dense, new snow overnight. I skied on the golf course where it had been rolled earlier in the day. Skating was nice, a little soft but not bad, the new snow packed down nicely onto the firm base. The trail should groom up very well!

Skied the golf course and out to the 9 K mark. This section was groomed this morning and had some nice loose transformed snow/ice bits on top of a firm base. The skate skiing was pretty fast and fun. Classic tracks were fair to poor.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Classic track was fair to poor. Tracks are a little icy about an inch and a half deep, except for the spots were the ice fell off the trees. Skate deck was fair to good. The groomers did a good job of roughing it up.

Spring skiing conditions. A firm crusty base that was easy to get an edge on. Sticks and twigs on the trail in the woods. Skied early today when it was 31 degrees.
