Trail Reports

2021-2022 season
Reports 78 to 83 of 83    Month: Mar | Feb | Jan | Dec
Wednesday, December 8, 2021
Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Skating technique done from golf course through 10 K marker, but not the big hills at 3-4K. The trail was groomed beyond the 10K marker, probably much farther but distance unknown. Snow coverage was 100%. Skate deck was generally quite level, fairly well compacted with rare soft spots and negligible debris. Classic tracks were being set throughout; they looked very good. Overall, a very good day at Lakewood.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
Today the trail was rolled and combed from the golf course out to about 14.5K. That part of the trail has been combed with at least two passes with some sections getting three or four passes. No tracks have been set yet, but skating should be okay. Some sections have a lot of twigs, sticks and leaves due to high winds yesterday.

[ Good skis ]
Lots of beautiful white snow! The Tidd Tech was out rolling and combing the 8” received on Monday. No tracks are set (yet!). Experienced soft and uneven, but fun conditions, worth the drive to enjoy the early season snow that blankets the area. Carpe Skiem!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
Skied from the golf course out to Old 32 in the afternoon after the groomer had gone out in the morning. The 8 inches of new snow was setting up well in the cold and windy conditions.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Partial, Rock skis ]
Skied on a crusty base from the golf course out to the Old 32 parking lot and beyond to the 9 K marker. The good news is that the base mainly survived the big warm up yesterday, but the bad news is there are now plenty of rocks, roots and bare spots to ski around. There was a light snow falling as I write this.
