Observation [ Trails Open: All ]

About 5" of wet heavy snow fell at Greenbush on Tuesday afternoon and evening, providing one last opportunity for some xc skiing which some skiers took advantage of late Wednesday. There was no grooming for obvious reasons, but one could bring their rock skis and go classical skiing, and have a decent and very quiet time in the woods. I decided to wait until late November/December and enjoy a fire in the shelter for a couple hours. Already looking forward to the 2025 season and many races that were either cancelled or altered this past season. See everyone in early December.

I classic skied the red loop today twice. It was not groomed so use my tracks if you dare... LOL .. I have never skied in April and so I did today just because it was a great day. No bare ground, floods or puddles. A few sticks, which I cleared many and soft snow no big deal. I am also posting this for anyone that wants to say "Hey I skied in April".

Greenbush is melting, but there is still decent rock/B skiing. The glide was pretty decent considering temperatures near 50F. Don't attempt with good skis! The best trails are the purple from the lower parking lot to the overlook on the far SW side and from the purple trail backwards to the north side of the marsh. The brown trail is in decent shape still. All other trails have many bare spots and rocks. There are a few bare spots and also some thinning sport, but not bad rock skiing. Nice and quiet out in the woods compared to Lapham. The deep pines are a bit dirty here and there, but nothing compare to Lapham. I love this place for it's up north feeling.

Brown and Blue trail barely holding on - open spots and bare ground. Trails lost a lot of snow last night. The main road segment until the split into the woods and the little blue loop were really only sections skiable today

We had a very nice ski at Greenbush today. The brown trail is in good shape as well as the purple to green to purple loop. A lot of the remaining track is iced up but hey, it's mid-late February.

Good conditions exist on most of the Greenbush trail system, except their are several thin area, especially by the marsh and the back sides of the red and green trails. Large bare spots exist near the powerlines on the purple and the connector from the downhill green back onto the purple is very thin (sorry). The downhill after the purple bench overlook is in bad shape, avoid, many bare spots and rocks-dangerous. B/rock skis are needed now! Some rocks out there, watch out. The best trails are the purple from the lower parking lot to the overlook OR the purple trail from the lower parking lot backwards to the marsh and the brown trail. No bare spots on the brown trail, best trail overall. The fun pink trail with it's winding downhill is still okay. In my opinion, easily the best skiing in Wisconsin right now. No deer here to track muddy hoofs onto the trail, LOL. Still decent snow cover in the woods. Perhaps mid March will be kind to us skiers and give us another week or so of good skiing like many years in the past.

Miraculous! Somebody must be praying to the ski gods. Trail conditions for Purple outer loop were near perfect. Green loop has a number of bare spots on the hilltops where sun hits, no recommended. As someone who I met on the trail said, best skiing in the midwest! Hope it lasts long enough for the March snow dump we have seen in prior years.
