Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
It was nice skiing at Greenbush again but what a slog. The temperature was 31 degrees when I arrived. There actually was a dusting of snow on the ground. I skied the red and brown trails. There was a slight crust on the brown trail. The red was soft with deep pole plants. The brown trail was more solid. The groomers have been out but these are tough conditions to groom. There is still lots of snow out here.

We touched up the brown and red trails, as well as the red to green to purple loop. Cannot set new track due to warming conditions. It's soft but skiable.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
I skied the purple and brown trails between noon and 2 pm and it was very soft and slow (about 70% of my typical pace). I didn't encounter any other skiers on the purple loop, but there were a handful of others striding and skating. The coverage is good and the tracks mostly intact. Typical debris in the pine trees due to no new snow and I used B skis. The skate deck looked OK, considering, but was also slow when I used it in spots.

Scheduling
[ Trails: Closed ]
The Northern Kettle Moraine Nordic Ski Club is asking that all skiers stay off of the trails until Saturday to preserve our delicate base. The snow base is currently saturated and very soft.

Grooming Scheduling
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
We were able to get out on the soft wet snow this morning and groom the skate deck and set track on the whole system including tracks on black. With warm temps and high humidity everything will be softer than preferred. If you head out please try to flick a few branches to help out. We will be hosting a middle and high school conference race Saturday morning. Anticipate some restrictions to some trail accessibility and a very full parking lot.

Great skiing today! The skate deck was primo (thanks Mike) and the classic tracks looked good! I skied mainly the purple loop but all loops were open!

Skied parts of the red, green, and purple trails at 8:30 am. Six degrees and no wind. All trails freshly groomed and tracked. Great job groomers. Wind was picking up at 10 when I left.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Our groomers were able to surface the skate deck and set classic track on everything except the black trail at night. The skate deck is level, but the corduroy is somewhat lumpy/chunky. The classic track better, but not great.

Great day at Greenbush. I skied part of the purple, red, green, blue, and brown. The trails are firming up nicely. Some pole plants still go deep but that just means we've got great snow depth. The grooming is great.
