Observation
[ Trails Open: Most ]
Wednesday, 5:30 pm - 34 degrees, no wind. Currently rock ski conditions. Our NKMN Storm Youth Ski Team used the Red and Brown trails for practice on Monday and Tuesday evenings, but not tonight. Trails have slowly deteriorated since last Sunday with today's high reaching 45. Most of the trail system still has coverage of a firm, semi-crusty snow base. There are bare spots and dirt showing through in a number of locations and gray ice patches in other locations. The Brown Trail is probably the best.

There is still some nice skiing at Greenbush. I skied all trails except pink. Generally good conditions, with a few spots to dance around. Thank you groomers.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
This morning I groomed the skate lanes on the Purple, Brown and Red. There is a thin base with debris and rocks/roots exposed in various locations that can be avoided. Good skiing overall with a flat deck but use discretion with good skis. Classic track remains present on all trails but very thin in many spots with some ground exposed in the tracks.

Skated the full purple and fun loop which is purple to red back to purple then green downhill and back to purple, all the downhill with least amount of climbing. Thin base, some debris tilled up, a few stones. Skate deck was good, not exactly level in spots, could use more snow. Tracks were 1/2 depth washed out in a few spots. Sure, trail took a beating with all of the grooming to remove the car ruts. Get out and enjoy while you can.

Great skiing today! Groomed trails. I skated on the green trail and it was very good! Watch for a few small stones on a couple of the uphills. The classic track is ok with some leaf debris.

Skied Brown and Purple. Tracks on purple showing some wear but provided good glide. Brown tracks in good condition providing good glide. Skate deck solid but showing wear. Great grooming miracles working with below normal snow amounts. Couldn't locate the donation box.

It was fun at Greenbush today. I skied all trails except the purple and pink. There is generally decent coverage, though there are thin spots. The ruts from the vehicle that was on the trail have mostly been groomed out. However, there are some uneven spots due to the ruts and some thin/bare spots because of vehicle driving on the trail. Keep alert while skiing, especially on downhill sections.

Trails were pretty fast today. Skate deck was tricky in spots and classic tracks were mostly good throughout. It's quite thin in spots on the tracks so I'll use my B skis next time. Groomers did a great job trying the fix the vandalism from someone who drove just about all over the whole entire trail system.

Classic Skied the red and green. Decent snow. Green tracks were 50% messed up by someone driving on the trails. Very disappointing. Maybe time for trail cams to catch the rascals.

All trails were wonderfully groomed into mid season condition. However, someone had been driving on the trails in the middle of the night causing extensive trail damage. This is the third time in the past week a renegade vehicle has trashed our trails. If you have any information, please call the DNR hotline. Jeff has been out there most of the day trying to remediate the damage.
