Trail Detail
Notes
Located 18 miles north of Duluth, the groomed trails are in nice primitive outdoor setting. The trails feature the "Wolfski's Ski Den" warming shack, open daily sunrise to sunset. In addition to the 21 kilometers of classical skiing, there will also be 11 kilometers groomed for skate-skiing. Trails are groomed Fridays and Mondays, and/or as needed. No fee or Minnesota State Ski Pass is required.Trail Reports

South Loop must have had a lot of use on the fresh warm snow yesterday! The classic track looks amazing throughout. The skate deck was firm in the 12 degree temps with lots of evidence of use before the snow had a chance to transform. Either way, best conditions since March of 2023! I used B skis as Nine Pine is still a little bare in the weedy areas but it really wasn't a big deal. Looking forward to a fresh groom!

I skied bear Claw. Tracks not really visible. Covered by a couple of inches of fresh snow. But skiing was good. Get out there.

I skied Blue Ox, Nine Pine and Bear Paw. The trail is still pretty bumpy but without a lot of obstructions poking through. It needs more snow to help even out some of the humps and bumps. The track wasn't established yet; just skied in by a few skiers. The backside of Blue Ox and most of Bear Paw were the nicest. The connector to the East parking lot was also nice but not quite uniform yet. It did not appear to be groomed today, but we also got some more snow this evening.

Skate deck has been groomed on all trails and has been skied in. Good pole plants due to a firm base under loosely packed upper layer of snow that is deep in some places. Bear Paw is in the best shape follwed by Blue Ox. Nine Pine is the most uneven, lumpy, soft spots and some stubble poking up. No classic tracks set including lonesome grouse. Worth the ski. Get out and enjoy it!

The south loops have been rolled but not tracked. Coverage is mostly good, with occasional brush poking up. There is a shallow skied-in track which sometimes goes down the middle of the trail. It seemed to me that it would be a bit soft for skating.

Nine Pine was soft, bare, with lots of ruts. It was difficult to get a rhythm (skating). Blue Ox was a little better. There are lots of classic tracks, man made. Lots of debris and weeds especially on Nine Pine. I'll hope for some groomer magic but ultimately we need more snow. Either way, it was lovely to enjoy the snow and sun today.
