Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
At noon at 18 degrees, the man-made skate deck was excellent with enough loose snow over a firm base. Thanks to the snowmakers, groomers, and volunteers. I enjoyed 30k with my fastest pace of the season.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
Excellent conditions for skate with a shallow layer of loose snow on a firm base. Dirt and debris from yesterday was mostly mixed into the base. Playground loops are very fun. Magic Carpet is fast, and the icy patch has been covered over. Striding tracks are old and broken down, sort of like me.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
The Piston Bully was out this morning grooming the man made trails. The skate deck should be in good condition. New classic track was set on the outside loop and is shallow with an icy bottom. We just plain need snow.

Very good conditions for skate on the late afternoon. A layer of snowcone snow on a firm base provided good glide and edging. Snow is dirty in places, especially from deer hoofprints. Magic Carpet was fast, with a small patch of ice at the bottom. Tracks were deteriorating. Playground was a nice, but different surface - be sure to give it a try. Skate surface was starting to freeze up as I left.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
Started at 1pm with the temperature 41 degrees for most of the morning. The skate deck was very soft which resulted in difficult pushoffs and slower glide. It was my slowest pace of the season. Yesterday I arrived at 9am with good conditions my pace was 25% faster.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
Challenging conditions for skate this morning with the layer of new, wet snow on the groomed base. Compression of the new snow by skier traffic and rising temps is leaving a variable surface that can be both fast and slow. Best areas are those with the most skier traffic. Tracks are softening and slick from the wet snow. Downhills are good.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
All the manmade skate lanes and playground were tilled and groomed with the Pisten Bully overnight and should be in great shape. The tracks were left as is as they are in good shape. Enjoy a great day of skiing with the fresh snow on top.

Out around 11AM on manmade loops - found the base was in great shape. Firm, flat and fast with just enough surface snow for good control and excellent skiing. Many thanks to the groomers and volunteers at Lapham!

I found the skate deck hard packed with good edging with loose snow and no icy areas. At 28 degrees with 10 mph wind it was very enjoyable and my longest with 22k in 25 times this season. Thanks to the snowmaking, groomers and volunteers the only xc skiing in SE Wisconsin has been the Lapham man-made.

Excellent conditions for skate. Last night's grooming with the Pisten Bully left a shallow layer of frictionless snow on a firm base. The groomers performed magic to create a layer of loose snow at the bottom of Magic Carpet, and going north, where it was ice after the recent warm spell. Playground loops are fun and firm. The descent down Magic Carpet is fast, but easily controlled. Tracks are new, and are firm and fast.
