Groomed the man-made loop this morning with the ginzu. Still a little icy in a few spots but otherwise decent conditions. New tracks were set.

Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
Based on the groomer report early this morning, I drove 35 miles and found the conditions amazing good even at 33 degrees. The skate deck was not icy and have enough loose snow for controllable skiing. When I left at noon at 45 degrees it was getting soft especially in the sun but still enjoyable. The early groom was very important as it would have been very icy after the warm temperatures and below freezing temperatures last night.
Thank you groomers for the early reports of your grooming.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Alex and I had the Piston Bully out early this morning. Alex groomed the skate deck and I reset the classic track. After yesterdays warm up it groomed up very nice. We will see what today does to the man made loop. Still plenty of snow with no bare or icy spots showing up yet.

Firsthand: Classic Observation
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
Classic skied the manmade snow loop. Solid, full depth track with enough glaze to still have some glide in the warmer temps. Decent amount of debris both in the tracks and on the skate deck. Trails adjacent to the manmade snow appeared to be mostly bare ground.

Firsthand: Freestyle Observation
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
If you keep your expectations low, you won't be disappointed. Fair to good conditions on the manmade snow loops for skate and stride. A slushy layer of corn snow on a firm base. Generally slow, with some dirty snow spots and small debris, including a new feature - deer droppings. Tracks are deteriorating and icy, with occasional debris, but still serviceable Lots of base that is cooling from below, so do not despair. Trails off the manmade loop have lots of dirt showing.

Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
Based on the 10am groomer report, I drove to Lapham and found the conditions good as reported on the man-made. The skate deck was hard packed with enough loose snow for edging. We got there at 1pm with a 37 degree tempature and it still was amazing fast. The magic carpet was fun. They have done a good job to restore the base with snowmaking during the cold weather.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
Skied the man-made snow loop in all of the classic tracks, which were deep, solid and lightly glazed except in the sunniest spots. The tracks are washed out at intersections, but no problem with that. Great day striding!

Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Very nice for skate and stride on the manmade snow loops. The ginzu-groomed skate lane softened a bit through the morning, but the underlying base is still firm - No deep sugar snow. The Green Cut-off is especially nice and Magic Carpet is firm and flat with just enough loose snow to set an edge. Trails off the manmade loops are skiable, but deteriorating - rock skis recommended.

The Piston Bully was out tonight grooming the skate deck and resetting the outer classic tracks on the man made snow loop. Beattle's loop and the playground were also groomed. The park staff was seen grooming off the man made loop.

Great conditions for skate and stride on the manmade snow loops. Firm, flat base with thin layer of powdery snow made for excellent skating. New tracks, solid, snowy, and deep made for the same for classic skiers. Issues with crunchy ice from earlier in the week are gone. Magic Carpet is a dream.
