Skied twice around the outer black loop and ran over several rocks, especially on the big slide coming off the top and on two tier where a three foot patch of rocks are exposed in the centre of the trail on the way up. Groomers tried, but there just isn't enough snow. Manmade snow loop continues to be in great shape.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Alex Matson and I had the Pisten Bully out tonight. We groomed and reset tracks on the entire man-made snow trail system. The DNR continues to groom all the trails off the man-made. I would suggest that anyone who skis off the man made use their rock skis and please be careful as the trails are thinning. Just like all winter long, we still need more snow from mother nature. Happy skiing everybody! A big reason that a lot of us volunteers continue to work hard at making and grooming snow, is all the smiling faces in the picture that I am submitting.

Skied the traditional Lapham Loppet Black/Purple loop at sundown. The Purple loop is in very good shape with nearly full coverage, and the manmade snow loop is excellent. The hills on the Black loop have some exposed rocks and roots due to a very thin base. I would suggest avoiding the entire Roller Coaster segment of the Black if you want to preserve your skis. I put a couple new scratches into my old rock skis. There is a classic track set on most of the system, but conditions varied widely in the track - some bare areas, some nice deep tracks too. Kudos to the groomers for doing their best with the minimal snow cover we have.

Grooming Secondhand
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
The Piston Bully was out tonight touching up the skate deck on the man made loop. The classic tracks were left as is and look to be in great shape. The park staff groomed off the man made loop but I'm not sure which trails they did.

Skied the whole black loop. Good coverage most of the time, but some rocks poking through mainly on the up hills most likely due to snow blowing away on those spots. If you're careful, rocks are easy to avoid.

Firsthand: Freestyle Observation
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Very nice for skate and stride on the manmade snow loops. Three days of snowmaking in the very cold weather has refreshed and fortified the manmade snow loops. Firm, flat skate deck with fresh corduroy is a delight to skate. Several areas of crunchy ice that could benefit from another tilling. Multiple sets of solid, straight, deep snow tracks for striding. Magic Carpet is firm and flat with a coating of fine powder, and is a joy to ski. Super big thank you to our volunteer snowmakers and groomers, and to park staff for their hard work and many hours to provide this fantastic venue for everyone to enjoy. Note: I can't give a firsthand report on the trails off the manmade loops, my observation is that rock skis would be recommended.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
All trails were groomed tonight, including the upper trails. Skate deck should firm up really nicely with the cold temperatures and tracks were set. Conditions should be excellent!

Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Skied the full loop, about 7 miles. Surface is lumpy, making downhills fun and sketchy. A few rocks here and there especially by Rock Ridge (an area that found itself a fresh, new sign). Not sure they laid tracks, looked skier carved.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Finally! The Piston Bully was out grooming last night after the snow had stopped. The skate deck was tilled and is in great but soft condition. The classic track was set and should be in excellent condition.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
The Piston Bully was out grooming Friday night. The skate deck was tilled and is in great shape. New classic track was set through out the man made loop and is in great condition as well. Still not enough snow to groom off the man made loop but hopefully that will change soon. Snow making will resume soon with the up coming cold weather. Please follow all signage and give the volunteers plenty of room to work.
