2023-2024 season
Reports 94 to 103 of 177    Month: Feb | Jan | Dec | Nov

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
Excellent conditions for skate and stride on the groomed trails. For today, that meant the Field Loop, the One KM Loop, and the Purple Loop. But, snowmaking operations are winding down and spreading of the new snow is progressing, to be followed by grooming the skate lane and setting new tracks on the Woods Loop. The newly groomed manmade snow on the Start Hill was very firm today, with occasional chunky areas that are typical of the first grooming of manmade snow. Also - A big Thank You to our volunteer snowmakers and groomers, who have given their time to provided us with these fantastic ski conditions!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
The snow makers have been busy since Tuesday making snow out here. There is still a lot of snow to spread to get everything open on the man-made loop. The original kilometer plus from Evergreen up to Summer stage, down to the north and around the Meadow loop is all open. Also the Purple was groomed with a track set. It is just gorgeous up there. If you have not skied up there yet, I highly recommend you give it a ski. Grooming plans: The snow makers and groomers will be working all day and into the night to hopefully get everything opened for the weekend. If you see the snow makers or groomers, please avoid us. Thank you and happy skiing!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
Very good conditions for skate and stride on the Purple Loop today. A good choice as snowmaking operations have limited the access to some trails down below. Excellent skate deck, and solid tracks with a few spots with woody debris. Best it has ever been.

Secondhand
[ Trails Open: Partial ]
I talked to someone at the front entrance, they told me the DNR is not planning to groom blue and black loops. Not enough staff. Too many trees down. Putting all their effort on lighted loops.

Excellent conditions for skate and stride on the groomed trails. Flat, firm, snowy skate deck and deep, solid, straight and well spaced tracks. Get out here and enjoy.

Night
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
The green (lit loop) is still in fantastic condition with only very light debris and 1-2 places where stuff has been pulled up. Upper loops (purple) are also holding up well. I mostly skated but the classic tracks are also in very good condition. Snowmaking continues through Friday so some of the man-made sections will be closed.

Night
Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
The Piston Bully was out at night grooming the light trail and the upper purple trail. The skate deck was tilled and is in great condition. New classic track was set throughout and is full depth and firm. Snowmaking continues so there are a few areas on the green trail that are not open at this time.

Evening
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
Plenty of trail to ski on and good conditions. Some tracks are getting light. Lower man-made and lit loops (green) along with the upper purple loops are open. Some small segments were closed due to snowmaking. Snowmaking will continue through Friday. Still some trees down that are preventing the remaining trails from being groomed.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
Good, but very slow conditions on the groomed trails this afternoon. Cold and windy. Lots of tracks from vehicles being used for snowmaking operations. Plenty of trails available for skiing. Be prepared to climb Two Tier as the Middle School Cutoff and the Green Cutoff are closed for snowmaking. Also Tail End.

Morning
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The skate deck of the lighted loop and the purple trail were groomed with the ginzu this morning. The tracks were left as is, and are mostly in great shape. There are still a few spot in the classic tracks that are thin or washed out on the purple trail. Please be aware that we are making snow starting this afternoon so some portions of the man-made loop will be closed over the next few days. There will still be alternate loops open to get around the snow guns. Please just avoid the closed sections while the snow guns are running.
