The 2 mile loop put together for the First Chance race was the best skiing I've found this year! Firm, easy to get an edge, and fast. Basically no dirt or debris to watch out for on the skate deck. The 20 foot tall pile of snow in the parking lot points to good things to come, awesome work trail builders!

The snow farmers are hard at work. There was a 3.2km loop of crispy snowy goodness for the First Chance Race this afternoon. The trail winds back into the woods and is a ton of fun to ski. You will find a little debris or stubble in a few places. There was a track set on the whole loop and while it mostly looked deep and nice, there were a few dirty spots to watch out for. I heard from one of the farmers that they have put over 200 hours into snow hauling alone so far this season. That didn't include any grooming or snow making itself. Those farmers are real heros.

The trails are open. There is a 1.5km loop from the Nordic Center. Snow coverage is generally good with only a couple very short areas of thinning snow. Trail was lightly groomed as of late afternoon. Classic tracks exist but are pretty washed out. Grooming plans: The Snow Farmers hope to resume hauling, spreading, and grooming snow late Thursday afternoon/evening to prep (and possibly extend) the trail for the upcoming First Chance race this Saturday, January 4th.
