Morning
Firsthand: Both
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
I skied the red, green and southwest section of the yellow trails and was pleased to see the trails were being groomed when I got there. How lucky can you get, freshly groomed trails! The trail coverage was still good but a few thin spots were starting to appear later in the afternoon. Lots of folks out there yesterday enjoying the trails. Thanks to the groomers for taking such good care of the little bit of snow that we have.

Skied Red/Green and Brown loops today. Trails holding up nicely. Very few thin or bare spots. Great job grooming considering amount of snow cover. Get out before it's gone!

[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
I skied the brown, red, green and the southwest portion of the yellow trails. The trails all had nice coverage and good tracks were set. The skate deck in many places had deep loose snow making it difficult to pick up your skis. The skate deck could benefit from a good rolling. I was surprised to find that I can no longer put $5 in the envelopes to purchase a trail pass. Certainly was nice to get out, ski, and meet fellow skiers.

Skied the rainbow this morning and the groomer was out finishing tracking. Very nice conditions with some thin spots and debris here and there. The back half of yellow has some thinner spots on the hills with rocks etc. But overall very nice. I did have my B skis on though. Thank you groomers!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Wednesday evening we received about 4 inches of very light and fluffy snow. All trails have been packed with the roller in preparation for grooming. Currently there is a 1"-2" packed snow base on the trail with about 95% total trail coverage.

Overnight we received about one inch of snow coverage. However, it was not quite enough to begin grooming ski trails.

The warm weather has melted nearly all snow on the trails over the last week. At this time, trails are closed to skiing.

Observation Scheduling
[ Trails: Closed, Rock skis ]
Due to forecast we are temporarily closing the ski trails at Greenbush and Zillmer trails to preserve the trail base until temperatures return to freezing conditions. If possible, please avoid using the trails. A friendly reminder to all that within the Kettle Moraine State Forest – Northern Unit there is no hiking allowed on trails that are groomed for skiing regardless of whether skiers are present.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
All trails have been groomed. Tracks have been set around the Brown loop and the outer Red loop. Unfortunately, due to equipment failures I was unable to set tracks on the Green or Yellow Trails. As always please use caution when using the trails and watch for debris / other skiers. While we did get a fair bit of snow this past week there are still some thin areas where the ground can be seen, especially under dense tree coverage and on some portions of the outer yellow trail. Grooming plans: Based on forecast, we are unlikely to be out grooming much over the next week.
