Notes

The Lester-Amity trail offers 15K of varied terrain for beginner to experienced skiers through pine, aspen, and birch forests. An additional 3K circles the Lester Park Golf Course and is accessible from the main Lester-Amity Trail. The openness of the golf course offers an excellent place for beginning cross-country skiers, and several short cuts are available. There is also a 5K trail portion that is lit in the mornings and evenings.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle Lost/Found
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Great conditions at Lester for skating. Little bumpy here and there, but great coverage. Thank you to the City groomers for making really nice skiing with the limited snowfall.
PSA: Found a car key on the uppermost part of the H-K trail at about 10:30am. Older Toyota key with a Swix pole tool attached. Contact me at [email protected] if it is yours.

What a joy to ski at Lester this morning! It was a little bumpy and uneven. The culverts at the bottom of the downhills were bumpy as well. Everything was skiable. The section to the lowest parking lot was thin and had debris (mostly on the uphill).

[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Skated skied this evening around 630pm. No lights on but stars were out! Trail was rolled/packed, no tracks. It was a bit sloppy/loose on up hills and icy at parts. What a treat to get out. Thank you workers!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Pretty skiing this afternoon at Lester! Decent skied in tracks on most of the trail, fading away on less popular segments. Skate deck looked a bit sloppy and some trail segments had much less packing but still very skiable. Some of the sloppy/loose sections made steep downhills a little less comfortable on the upper half of the trail system but not horrible. A few little sticks here and there, and the little icy patches as with every year, but I felt perfectly fine on my good skis.

No tracks set but all trails/loops have been rolled But some skied in tracks. Uneven and soft skate deck with some areas slinking about ankle deep. Some areas thin with ice showing through but easily avoidable. Full coverage but not sure I'd pull out good skis just yet. Feels good to be out again this year-thanks to the groomers!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ B skis ]
Trail was rolled in early afternoon, no trackset. Lots of debris, grass, sticks, dirt and some short pockets of moisture under the snow. But the great news is it is definitely skiable with B skis. One person did skate. I decided to classic. Snow has been falling all day.

Great time on the trail. Not groomed. Used the skied-in classic tracks. Soft, light snow easy to snowplow on downhills. Started at the top of the trail and then cut over to B. Be careful at the bottom of the K hill — there's a gash with an exposed drainage tube. Another pipe is exposed near the bottom of the D-loop. More snow should make it all better.

[ Rock skis ]
Trails are all snow covered but not maintained in any way as of yet. There is a classic track around most of the trails from previous skiers. The climb up from the warming house has rocks to avoid and the loop down into the playground area has gravel that my skis snagged on a few times.
