Trail Detail
Notes
The Lester-Amity trail offers 15K of varied terrain for beginner to experienced skiers through pine, aspen, and birch forests. An additional 3K circles the Lester Park Golf Course and is accessible from the main Lester-Amity Trail. The openness of the golf course offers an excellent place for beginning cross-country skiers, and several short cuts are available. There is also a 5K trail portion that is lit in the mornings and evenings.Trail Reports

Lester is holding up well despite lots and lots of use. There's still a solid classic track and the skate lane looked well used but firm and not rutted.

Two or three inches of fluffy lake-effect snow, snowing hard when we got off the trail around 5:30. Classic track was skied in and slow. A friend I saw skating said it was also slow. Really fun to be out in the shaken-up snow globe.

Lester has seen plenty of use. Tracks are mostly intact for classic skiing but they aren't deep. Did a full loop into the back non-lit area and enjoyed the skiing. Trails could benefit from some fresh grooming.

Very cold but fun skiing today! The skate deck was being groomed when I was there at around 1:30pm. Some sections were a little messed up and iced over though. The tracks were pretty good in most spots, but washed out or full of leaves in a few spots- could use a groom. Only saw two other skiiers.

23 F. Overcast, windy. Classic track in great shape, though most corners are skies out. The skate deck looked pretty soft in many places. But we’ve gotten a lot of snow, too. Great ski conditions and lots of skiers enjoying the trail. Also snowshoers, fat bikers, and snowmobiles.

Freestyled the Lester-Amity Ski Trail 12:30pm. Nordic ski chalet building was closed, but plenty of places to park on the drive to the chalet since there are multiple entry points onto the trail system. Signage is great so it's almost impossible to get lost along the trail--although you could get stuck doing loops if not paying attention! Skate deck was overall good, lots of snow here in Duluth. The trail has gotten decent use from skate skiers, with uphills having some turned up snow, which may be expected. Classic tracks set throughout and looked solid, clear of debris.

Classic tracks were solid and deep. Skate deck level and firm. Trails have seen a lot of use since last grooming based on the number of skate marks and classic pole plants. Glad the sun was out while we skied in minus single digits and even lower windchill. Wore lots of layers and wind gear, mittens, thick balaclava and hat, and boot covers. Wonderful ski at Lester!

Those braving the cold today got a real treat at Lester park. I classic skied all trails and found the tracks deep, firm, and fast. The skate deck looked hard packed. Thanks to the city groomers!
