Trail Detail
Notes
The Lester-Amity trail offers 15K of varied terrain for beginner to experienced skiers through pine, aspen, and birch forests. An additional 3K circles the Lester Park Golf Course and is accessible from the main Lester-Amity Trail. The openness of the golf course offers an excellent place for beginning cross-country skiers, and several short cuts are available. There is also a 5K trail portion that is lit in the mornings and evenings.Trail Reports

Surprisingly good conditions after light snowfall covered the ice, which when compacted by previous skiers, made for a pleasant, safe run. Tracks skied out a bit here and there but otherwise in great shape along the entire trail. Blue wax for kick worked fine. Light snow falling at the time melted into water droplets hanging from tree branches.

Skied classic from 6:30-8am, hoping for fresh grooming but the tracks were glazed and terrifyingly fast (in a good way)! I was using Rode Violet kicker, which wasn't quite sticky enough. The skate deck looked incredible!

Fresh grooming at Lester this morning. I ran into the groomer (thank you!) and about 50% of trails had been freshly done while I was there. Great solid track for classic, skate deck firm in the places not freshly groomed, somewhat soft on the freshly groomed areas. Really no debris on trail to speak of. Awesome conditions.

I noticed the City had posted that Lester was groomed today so I parked at the first bridge and skated everything up hill from there. It was true, the entire system had been groomed. I can't say enough about how fun Lester is with fresh grooming. With all the traffic, it would be great if the City could have a set grooming schedule for Lester. The skate lanes on the lower sections had already seen a lot of traffic and the farther up hill I got the less traffic. I like doing the D-H loop because the H cut off doesn't get much use. It didn't disappoint today.

Creamy deluxe. Big dump of new snow freshly groomed. All the loops are now rolled and tracked, even L and N. One little thing to watch for: At the bottoms of some of the hills, the tracks go a bit kittywhompus.

Sunny, soft table but good grooming for all skiing. Debris finally covered!! Yeeha!
I used my A skis because that's all I've got.

Lester was re-groomed just after noon today, including the top section. Big thanks to the City sawyers, groomers and DXC volunteers who worked to clear the fallen trees. I used good skis but there are still a number of twigs/sticks on trail to navigate around.

Tracks are getting washed out in areas. Still groomed up to H with the only side loop groomed, the D loop. If trying to ski beyond H, it's rough for a short stretch, and then beautifully groomed for about 2K and then reverts back to deep snow with two ruts to ski in. Still pretty fun if you don't mind the uneven deep ruts. Avoid the J hill, it's the only part that has some small trees down.
