Notes

The Lester-Amity trail offers 15K of varied terrain for beginner to experienced skiers through pine, aspen, and birch forests. An additional 3K circles the Lester Park Golf Course and is accessible from the main Lester-Amity Trail. The openness of the golf course offers an excellent place for beginning cross-country skiers, and several short cuts are available. There is also a 5K trail portion that is lit in the mornings and evenings.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
A fine, light snow was falling when we hit the trail at dusk, giving the trails a nice dusting. The tracks are holding up well. The system is only groomed to the H intersection, and the only side loop that is groomed is D. The lights were not working above A when we were there, and I had forgotten my headlamp, so the last few downhills were extra exciting.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
A good chunk of the main loop is open. As others have mentioned, take the H-K cutoff, or continue on for a little more adventure. There is ample thick base, but because of the storm there is a lot of debris and ice on the surface. We just need a few inches of snow to cover up the debris. I never felt like my skis would be damaged, but I still wouldn't pull out the good boards.

Skied the loop starting at the chalet, down to A and up to the H-K cutoff, including the D loop. Decent conditions given all the heavy snow we had this week; pretty firm but not icy, and only a small amount of tree debris on the trails. Much faster snow than I expected, and the trail was pretty smooth. Lots of fun!

Skied upper loops off 7 bridges road. Nice classic tracks set on both sides. Excellent conditions!

Groomed today for skate and classic through the H cutoff. The D side loop is also open. Soft on some uphill sections. Overall quite good.

The groomer came through while we were out touring the unset trail. Now its nice for classic. At 1pm they had set half the width. Skate deck will likely need to set up. The earlier ruts were from tree clearing crew in an ATV. All now groomed over (except for upper loops). Hooray for the groomers!

Lester has been groomed, but not everything. The top loop has not been groomed, so you likely want to take the H-K cut. Also, the bottom loop into the playground area has not been groomed; heads up if you are dropping down on this hill (the amity side, coming down from the 5 way intersection up above the deeps) because the first half IS groomed but then it abruptly stops. I'd recommend parking on the seven bridges side for the time being. Some of the other spur loops are also not groomed, although D is and it was nice. The track looked pretty good.

Observation
[ Trails Open: All ]
I live 200 yards from the trailhead at The Deeps. The Pisten Bully just drove by the end of my driveway leaving. Thus, I believe the trails are now groomed.

Not groomed at all. Looks like some machine did come through and created some packed paths which allowed for very strenuous classic skiing.

Observation
Walked a trail that crosses the Lester ski trails at about 4:00 this afternoon. The ski trail was ungroomed after our recent heavy snow, and it looked like only a couple of people had tried to ski it. The snow there is very, very wet. The nearby walking was pretty slushy.
