PIedmont was groomed by the big groomer yesterday. There is evidence of lots of use. The parts in between the tracks where they end and start again are concrete with little to no edge. The parts between the tracks are cord, but more like icy cord... if you are a good skier you will be fine... if timid be careful... it will hurt a lot if you fall as it's solid. The tracks are the deepest and most solid I've seen this year. They are 99% debris free and 100% intact. There are a couple spots where they zig a bit, but not on any steep parts. The tracks were very fast too... not ice, but fast. I had my skins and Rode blue liquid and put in very little effort to move forward or up hills today. Someone did take a dog for a walk all along the trail and sometimes stepped on the tracks but they are still ok.

There was about a half inch of new snow in tracks that were firm and in decent shape. Day before it was mostly icy. Did come across three downed trees across the trail which I had to crawl over.

I read on the Duluth Parks website that Piedmont was groomed Friday afternoon. I didn't get out there until noon today, but the tracks were in great shape. Ended up skiing longer than I'd planned to because it was so nice. Used fishscales, other folks I chatted with were also on no-wax skis of some sort.

The Duluth Parks and Recreation website stated that the Piedmont trails were groomed Wednesday and was in good condition. So, I went there today in the late morning and Classic skied almost all of the trails multiple times (I did not ski the Black, Most Difficult loop). The tracks were very solid, but not rock hard. The track was fast and glazed and tending towards icy as the afternoon went on. But the skiing was a lot of fun. I had pretty good grip with high performance patterned, waxless skis. And the glide was fast.

All trails are groomed. A few short sections of shallow tracks but mostly good. Considering all the use the trail has been getting and the gusty weather a few days ago, the tracks are holding up well. Snow is nice and not too icy.

Skied all of the blue trails. The trails are not in great condition, so much pole holes and deer tracks that it disrupts the groomed ski tracks. A few chunky ice patches and a lot of not smooth areas that catch skis. The green loops/trails were especially chunky and highly used.

Freshly groomed trails had nice tracks. It was fairly busy when I arrived around 4pm but the mostly double tracked trails make passing easy. I didn't see much if any debris on the trails. Went the whole trail. Black hills were great!

The trails were groomed early on Friday. Perfect on Friday and the same today. A light coating of fluffy snow. Very fast. Tracks are firm throughout. I'll be going again tomorrow.

I swung by Piedmont to see if it had been groomed. It has and looks perfect. There were no cars in the lot at 8:15. Looks like a great day of skiing.
