Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Skiable, but very much rock skis. There are segments where it's more grass than snow, but there is usually a way through with mostly snow. All the cart trails are covered so I was able to make it through without damage. A Christmas Miracle!

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Trail was packed and fairly covered but even with multiple skier-made tracks there were many bare spots. Had to keep switching "lanes". Even so, hit gravel pretty definitively once.

Still able to skate, nice to be on the soft natural snow. Coverage is a bit less than yesterday, more soft grass peeking through in spots and still kinda chopped up and lumpy on the skate deck. Probably on the edge of being able to use good skis. That said, cart tracks are still totally covered, and overall just so nice to be on natural snow! Thanks again to the groomers, great job John!

The skate deck is soft, lumpy/bumpy, and a bit uneven, but very skiable if you don't require Goldilocks conditions! The grooming report from a couple days ago mentioned there wasn't enough snow to cover the cart paths, but maybe that was before it stopped snowing, or someone might have shoveled snow over them, because I didn't see any exposed asphalt. The coverage is good with some patches of soft green grass poking through here and there, but nothing pokey or scratchy that would hurt your skis. I used my B skis, but could have used my good skis and not worried. Of course you're not gonna get in any "hot laps" here, just two days after our first snowfall, but the soft silkiness of the natural snow makes for a pretty enjoyable ski! Thank you so much to the groomers!

Grooming

Hiawatha is rolled. There is some grass poking through, and the snow isn't deep or firm enough yet to avoid cart paths. Lots of good coverage and hopefully the trail firms up.
