2022-2023 season

Classic around cedar today. Snow was crunchy and mushy, tracks were there but not by much, lovely light snow coming down all day filled them in by the time I got around to the next lap. Few small slushy spots, nothing major. The ice dippers were out in full force, not many skiers. There was some fresh corduroy for the skaters. Not the fastest day on the lake but its always a treat to be on Cedar. Thank you groomers for making it out there when you can!

Groomed a couple of passes on Cedar Lake. It's in great shape. Will likely be the last weekend for grooming so get out and enjoy.

Lake BMS beautifully ungroomed for those whom can blazed their own trail. Do: bring your touring, BC, or OT setup. Leave the neon spandex skin suit and skinny skis at home.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
Fresh off grooming Isles. Cannot go through the lagoon, open water, so BMS will not be groomed anymore this year. Two passes on walking/fatbike trail and three passes on skate/classic. Classic tracks are going to set up quite nice with more snow this weekend.

Icy but groomed for classic. Skate deck looked rough. Walkers have walked over much of tracks. Think double-pole technique and that the end of season (for Chain of Lakes) coming to close soon...

Bde Mka Ska rolled, groomed, tracked and corduroy. Beautiful day but I made the error of skiing with my BC Madshus M62 setup. Bring your spandex and skinny race skis!

Grooming

Groomed Isles and Bde Maka Ska this morning. The tracks looked pretty good, but don't know how long before they get icy. Beware: There is about a foot of standing water under the bridge between the two lakes! You will need to take your skis off and take the walking path a short distance to get around. Probably done with grooming on BMS because of this area.

Skied the bog, Eloise and Brownie and the trails are in amazing shape! Big time warning...the ice under the bridge from brownie to cedar has broken through and I just about went in. It would be a good way to end your ski season so I would avoid that section!

Skijored Lake of the Isles. Surprisingly good conditions. Some rutting/frozen footprints but I didn't find any icy spots where I couldn't get an edge while on the main body of the lake.

I made three passes on Isles and two on BMS. Classic tracks are shallow to icy. I did my best. Lowered teeth when I could to scrape the footprints off.
