Firsthand: Freestyle

Isles Report Only: The skate deck is soft, deep, and heavily used already. You can skate, but it's a workout. Classic tracks look great. Beautiful weather this afternoon.

Observation
Just walked down to Isles and saw that it was groomed. Looks like nice skiing — will have to go get out later.

Grooming

Isles is groomed for skate with classic tracks on either side. The snow is very soft; classic will be easier than skating. Bde Maka Ska is rolled but not groomed yet.

Isles and Bde Mka Ska are not groomed. Plowed around both lakes on my BC MadShus 62 with Alfa BOA and XPLORE backcountry set up. Good work out; not necessarily fun. LOL.

Skied Bde Maka Ska classic. Trail was well set but very icy. We were still able to ski most of it, combo of slush and ice in some parts. Saw a few skate skiers cruising along.

Skied from Wirth lake to Brownie and around Cedar Lake. Very slick glazed conditions. The on land portion on the north side of Cedar Lake was very rough.

Lake of the Isles has OK tracks for classic skiing. Skate deck looked fantastic for freestyle. We need more snow and for the groomers to return.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Freshened up the trails around Isles and Bed Maka Ska. Mostly went over the skate deck a number of times to scratch it up a bit. The deck is firm, flat and should be fast. Reset the inner classic track on BMS. The rest of the classic tracks are still deep and firm. Lots of folks out enjoying the sunshine and snow right in the heart of the city!

Cedar and Brownie have no Nordic classic tracks yet post Loppet races. Skate deck looked ok; but the walkers, fat bikers and others have trashed the classic tracks. Pray the groomer will visit all the Chain of Lakes.

Beautiful conditions for both classic and skate. Entrance to Cedar Lake remains closed but skated the entirety of Lake of the Isles and Bde Maka Ska. Inside classic lane is blown over on part of Bde Maka Ska, but the outside classic lane is in good shape throughout. Skate deck is very firm from use. As usual, less coverage under bridges but there is a manmade snow crossing under the longest one.
